The two men were silent as the video played on the laptop in front of them. Zico watched it with mild interest, while Yongguk brought the cross on his necklace to his lips, chest tightening at the scene unfolding before his eyes. He’d seen the video so many times he knew it by heart, yet he couldn’t tear his eyes away from the screen.
"Why are you showing this to me?" Zico asked after the video had stopped playing.
"Whoever made this is clever and careful. Not once does the torturer reveal his face, only his hands are shown." Zico only hummed in response, so Yongguk continued. "I need your help with tracking whoever is responsible down and making them pay."
"Why?" Zico asked, arching his eyebrow. There was something about his tone, perhaps about how careless it was, that rubbed Yongguk the wrong way.
"He’s the newest member to our group." Yongguk replied.
It was silent for a tense moment before Zico let out a chuckle that sent chills down Yongguk’s spine. Something wasn’t right.
"I’m afraid I can’t help you here." Zico slapped Yongguk’s upper arm lightly, standing up from the couch. "Consider paying the ransom. Who knows what will happen to the poor thing if you don’t?"
Zico had left a long time ago when it finally clicked in Yongguk’s mind. He cursed under his breath and buried his head in his hands. He knew that knife had looked familiar.
